The customers that have had our Dirty Blue Martini, with our house stuffed Great Hill Blue Cheese Olives, rave about how good the olives are. They ask for them in different martinis and on the side too… its great. Now trust me I know having blue cheese stuffed olives is not that unique, in fact a ton of places have them.
But ours are different, there are three reasons why.
1) We Stuff our own olives, various vodka companies offer to send us already stuffed olives if we use their vodka in the dirty blue. It sounds good on face value, free olives already stuffed, saving us the expense of buying olives and cheese and paying somebody to stuff them. But the problem is nobody knows where the cheese is from, if it is any good (its not) and how much will still be inside the olives when we get them. Gourmet shops sell them too, but I ahve no idea how long they have been stuffed on the shelf waiting to be bought.
2) We use Great Hill Blue Cheese, a truly stellar blue cheese from Marion Ma, staying true to our effort to offer you the best local ingredients it would be foolish to not use such wonderful cheese from our home state. We use it in a number of things on the menu and it is only fitting we continue to do so when it comes to the olives.
3) We are not cheap with the cheese, they are stuffed, to the brim. I have seen blue cheese ‘stuffed olives’ that had a coating of blue cheese inside a hollow center… and on and on. This isn’t really a cheap endeavor to make them but it is worth it when you get our dirty blue and then have one elsewhere. Wherever that is I personally want you to think about our olives.
those are the three reasons I believe ours are the best you can get here in our home state. Recently I was asked if we would sell a jar of them so that they could be enjoyed at home, and since that person has already bought three I figured I would let you know, if you love them, you can take them home with you.
